In 2019 there were over 110,000 people involved in motor vehicle collisions statewide, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Musculoskeletal pain is one of the most common complaints following a motor vehicle collision. Chiropractors are doctors who assess and treat many of the common musculoskeletal conditions that result from motor vehicle collisions. While the forces involved in each accident are unique, it is not uncommon to see the neck, upper back, low back, hips, knees and jaw affected by the crash.
Adrenaline, a stress hormone, gets released during the accident and that may mask pain and underlying dysfunction. This may cause some injuries to not be immediately apparent. When this happens, it may take days or even weeks for the injury to be fully noticed by the body. Failing to get medical treatment right away can end up costing you money and can increase the time for recovery.
