Chronic pain affects millions of people in the United States alone. According the CDC approximately 20% of adults have some form of chronic pain, that’s about 50 million people. Chances are that you or someone close to you suffers from chronic pain. Finding an effective way to treat you or your loved one’s pain can be difficult. Traditionally opioid medications have been given as the main treatment for pain. As you may already know, opioids are turning out to be a problematic treatment option. While opioid medications may be effective for pain they also are very addictive and have unpleasant side effects.
Thankfully, there are options for you or your loved one’s pain. Some of these options are anti-inflammatories like aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen (Tylenol). For some, these options just don’t provide enough relief. There are stronger, prescription anti-inflammatories too, and other prescription medications for pain but these medications may cause serious side effects that make them unusable for many. Fortunately, there are effective means to treat pain that have few or no side effects.
