Men’s Health Issues
Men have many health issues and one of the most concerning is that men are reluctant to go to the doctor. In fact, men are 24% less likely to have been to the doctor over the past year than women. For men, not going to the doctor often can lead to bad health outcomes. Men might have a silent condition like high blood pressure or heart disease, which when noticed early are treatable. If conditions like these go unnoticed for a long time, it can be bad. So, the number one best thing us men can do for our health is to become proactive and take charge of our own health through prevention.
What does prevention look like?
Prevention is getting routine check ups and when the time comes have preventive screenings done. Common things to be screened for are diabetes, cholesterol, weight, depression and heart disease. Prevention also includes a good lifestyle. Getting enough exercise, eating a good diet, not smoking, not drinking too much alcohol, managing stress are all means to keep you feeling good and healthy.
Do men need Hormones as they age?
As men age we go through hormonal changes and for some of us that means we start to experience fatigue, irritability, depression, weight gain, loss of muscle mass, impotence and low sex drive. If you are experiencing any of these things you may have low testosterone. When testosterone is low it can hard to do the things you used to do with ease. Getting the testosterone level back up can be a game changer and have you feeling like your old self.
To diagnose low testosterone, a blood sample is taken and checked on 2 different occasions. Other things will be checked as well at the same to make sure there are not other issues causing your problems.
Low testosterone can be treated with TRT or testosterone replacement therapy. There are several methods of doing this and I believe that weekly injections of testosterone are the preferred method.
The results of taking testosterone are usually very good. Most men just plain feel better, are less fatigued, able to work out longer and achieve much better results from their workouts and sex drive and impotence improve.
