COVID-19 Testing

Acute Infection Testing

Emerge has a limited number of testing kits. Please call the office if you have any of these symptoms of acute infection:

  1. Fever
  2. Chills with or without fever, with or without shaking
  3. Dry cough
  4. Difficulty breathing
  5. Recent loss of sense of smell and/or taste
  6. Unexplained onset rash/hives
  7. Exposure to someone who has been recently diagnosed with COVID-19

Testing will be conducted after the patient has completed a phone screening with a physician. Drive-up testing is available, no need to leave your car.

COVID 19 Acute Testing

Antibody Testing

Testing for acute and/or past infection of COVID-19 is available. A non-fasting blood draw in the office can be scheduled. The results will be reviewed by you and your doctor as soon as they are available. Supportive treatment options will be discussed at that time.

No test is perfect and there is no cure at this time for COVID-19.

Why are Sick People Getting Sicker with COVID-19?

Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is a “novel” virus which means human beings have not encountered it before therefore no one has immunity to this virus. Why are some people getting very sick and some of those patients die when others have been exposed to the virus yet experience very few or mild symptoms or no symptoms at all?

We don’t have all the answers and are learning more about Coronavirus and COVID-19 (the resultant infection after exposure to Coronavirus) all the time; it seems the information changes every day so there’s little wonder why people are confused and concerned.

What is known is each person’s general state of health can be a determining factor. The more sick you are before coming in contact with SARS-CoV-2, the greater the opportunity for the virus to adversely affect you. These mitigating health factors include, but are not exclusive to: hypertension, obesity and diabetes.

A Journal of the American Medical Association article, dated April 22 2020, found COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized in the New York City area were more likely to require admission to intensive care, require ventilation and other interventions if those patients were diagnosed with hypertension, obesity and/or diabetes¹. Other factors include advanced age, sex (men are more likely to suffer ill-effects), smoking and lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)².

What Does This Mean For You?

The doctors at Emerge Natural Health Care are dedicated to finding and eliminating the cause of disease, medical conditions and disorders whenever possible. You can start to address your health conditions by making an appointment. Working together, you and your doctor can reduce the effects of hypertension, obesity and diabetes, perhaps eliminating the condition altogether.

How Do We Do This?

  1. Appropriate history taking, testing & diagnosing
  2. Administration & monitoring of pharmaceutical medication, herbal supplements & vitamins
  3. Treatment with acupuncture, neurofeedback, hydrotherapy & other modalities
  4. Inflammation reduction
  5. Nutritional optimization & improved digestive health
  6. Improved sleep, exercise & stress reduction

From ancient times it has been recognized that there is an intimate relationship between the activity and life of human beings and their natural environment. The root of all life is yin and yang; this includes everything in the universe, with heaven above and earth below, within the four directions and the nine continents… The universal yin and yang transform into the five earthly transformative energies, also known as the five elemental phases that consist of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.
