A healthier halloween

Halloween is coming and so are the treats. Most all of us love a good sweet treat now and again but when Halloween comes around the treats can be a bit excessive. Moderation is always best but may hard to implement, especially for the little ones. Choosing healthier treats for the little ones is a good way lessen the impact of all those treats. Here are some guidelines for selecting healthier Halloween treats for your kids and maybe you too.

Here is a list of ingredients to avoid:

  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Artificial flavors and colors
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Allergens like peanuts, fish, milk, gluten, tree nuts, eggs and soy
  • Too much sugar

Things to look for in healthier treats are:

  • Sugar free
  • Sweetened with stevia, xylitol or fruit juice
  • Organic
  • Dark chocolate
  • Non GMO
